Clay Assignment: Creative Containers A container is something that is meant to hold or store other objects. You will create a clay container using the pinch, coil, or slab method. You will disguise your container by turning it into something else. Your project will be painted once it is has been fired. Since firing will take up to several weeks, you will get your major grade based on your built project (unpainted). Project Requirements: There must be a container somewhere in your project. Your project must be school appropriate. You must disguise your project You must have some type of carved, stamped or added texture. You must use all of your clay. (YOU WILL NOT GET EXTRA AND MAY NOT SHARE!)

3 DUE DATE: Friday, March 10 Grades: a DAILY GRADE for your sketch
a DAILY GRADE when learning the hand-building methods a DAILY GRADE for your progress with sculpting a MAJOR GRADE for your sculpted project Points will be deducted for any project that is turned in incomplete, regardless of absences. It is your responsibility to make up missed class time. Manage your class time well by staying on task! DUE DATE: Friday, March 10

13 Thumbnail Requirements:
You must include a detailed drawing of your clay sculpture idea you must color it in using color pencil You must list the clay construction methods you will use to create your sculpture. (pinch pot, coil, slab) You must get TEACHER APPROVAL in order to start sculpting. Mrs. Mendoza will initial your sketch and enter your daily grade once you have been approved. Pinch-pot for the body. Coil for the trunk and legs. Slab for the ears.
