2. About me...
4th year of teaching. Have taught everything except upper level physics (1st year teaching forensics :))
Taught for 2 years at North Oldham High… 2nd year here
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, minor in Chemistry from EKU. Master’s degree in secondary education from UC
Favorite areas of science include anatomy and physiology, cell bio, wildlife bio, and environmental science
Huge sci fi nerd! LOVE marvel comics, fan fiction, game of thrones, lord of the rings, and basically any murder mystery

8. Now for the boring stuff… Class procedures
Homework- Homework will be given on occasion and you will always have at least 5 min in class to work on it in case you need help. If you aren’t using that time, then you will receive a zero.

Daily work/routine- Each day you come in, you will have a bellringer of some sort. Each student will have their own bellringer/class folder provided by me and with a bellringer sheet inside of it. This will take the first 5-10 min of class. At the end of class you will also have an exit slip/reflection. This will often be on google classroom as a written assignment that will be followed by a class discussion. Both of these will be worth a grade (percentage on syllabus) and will be tracked.

Class Resources- All info for every class on the whiteboard!
- Remind: For text reminders on tests, quizzes, projects, and other due dates. Info on main white board.
- Google classroom: For exit slips, practice tests, and other misc. assignments
Class Website: msyanceyscience.wordpress.com/ (go to individual class folder to access)
and IC: You can me anytime with a question or concern
Tutoring/Makeup work: Very flexible! See me about it

Turning in assignments/Late work- all assignments will be turned into corresponding tray, unless instructed otherwise by me. Bellringers will be in folders and should be collected at the beginning of every class and put up after each bellringer. If you are absent (excused), you will receive however many days you miss plus one, to turn in that assignment. If you have an unexcused absence, see me about how to make it up. Tests, quizzes, and labs Must be made up after school!

Retake Policy: retakes are a privilege! To receive one, you must come in for two separate tutoring/study sessions after school in order to receive a retake on a quiz or a test.

13. Class procedures cont...
Bathroom breaks/Hall passes- Each student will be allowed 2 bathroom passes a week. You will be required to take the hall pass and sign out on the sign out sheet provided by the door. Only one student is to use the hall pass at any given moment. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If you have an emergency, I will need an explanation from you or a call from the office.
* I will limit bathroom passes if I feel like they are becoming a distraction!!

14. Class rules and consequences:
When you come into class you need to be seated in your assigned seat and starting on your bellringer.
Always come prepared to class with pencil and paper.
NO CELL PHONES!!!!!
Consequence:
You will be marked tardy and receive a zero for the bellringer.
A call will be made home
taken away or given to the office (if you resist)

15. Class rules and consequences cont...
No food or drinks allowed in class. Closed-top waters are okay.
Respect me and your classmates at all times!!!
Consequence:
Food/drink will be confiscated.
I have a zero tolerance for disrespect and horseplay. Both will result in a referral depending on severity.

16. Academic Detention
Every Friday, you will get a missing work grade report. I will also send an and call home so that your parents/guardians know what you are missing.
You will have until the following Wednesday to turn in all missing work. If work is not turned in by that time, you will receive a zero and academic detention during lunch or after school.
I will also reward students that are never missing work because you are just great :)

17. Rewards!!!
- All successes deserve rewards! Rewards will be given randomly throughout the year for great behavior, no missing work, grades, and selfless acts.
In your groups, put together a list of rewards you could receive as an individual or as a class. We will share an put together at the end :)
