Job descriptions Often do not contain information about the physical demands that are required to perform the job Not kept current May not reflect the job as it is performed today No objective-based qualification testing for Return to work Hiring Placement

Functional Job Descriptions (FJDs) identify physical stressors and are essential for effective return to work and hiring/placement decisions Identify ergonomic modifications that can reduce physical stressors Provide one-half the input for return to work and hiring/placement decisions Establish the foundation for a systematic ergonomic program that will meet the proposed OSHA ergonomic guidelines
