3 Righteousness The reason why this is the last part of the section of the process of maturing Christian because is what sets us apart from the world. This is the last part of this section because this is where the REAL heart change occurs!

4 Matthew 5:20 For I tell you unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisee and the teacher of the law, you will certainly not the enter the kingdom of heaven.

5 Matthew 6:33 Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be provided for you

6 What are we seeking? Approval? Power? Comfort? Achievement
Materialism? Popularity? Perfect Family

7 Moses-manna in wilderness Daily bread Give us this day.
Bread of Life John 6:35 I am the bread of life, He who comes to me will never go hungry” Moses-manna in wilderness Daily bread Give us this day.

8 Questions Are we hungry for God? For ALL of God
Or do we want just enough…but not enough to change.

9 “I would like to buy $3 worth of God, please, not enough to explode my soul or disturb my sleep, but just enough to equal a warm cup of milk or a snooze in the sunshine. I don’t want enough of him to make me love a black man or pick beets with a migrant. I want ecstasy, not transformation; I want the warmth of the womb, not a new birth. I want a pound of Eternal in a paper sack. I would like to buy $3 worth of God, please.”

10 1 Corinthians1: 30-31 “It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boast, boast in the Lord.”

11 Blessed are those who daily come to Jesus for nourishment, for their empty spaces will be no more.

12 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy

13 MERCY Compassion forgiveness shown toward someone who it is within one’s power to punish

14 James 2:12-13 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

15 Mathew 23:23- Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrits! You give a tenth of your spices-mint, dill and cumin, But you have neglected the more important matters of the law-justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

17 Withholding Punishment
Who are those people in our lives?? Family Co workers Friends

18 Punishment Unforgiveness Bring up past mistakes
Remind others of their shortcomings? Do we keep people in prisons? Bad attitudes? Are we immature? Are we dramatic and stir up trouble for people? Are we mean? Cruel?

19 1 Peter 2:10 “Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy

20 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Greek-purosis- burning The purification process burns

21 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of extortion and rapacity. You blind Pharisee! First cleanse the inside of the cup and of the plate, that the outside also may be clean. (Matthew 23:25–26)

22 They will see God In His presence In Awe of Him Comforted by Him
Acts 15:9 “He did not discrimate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.

23 What does Faith Do? Sees sin, loathes it, and runs from it to God. Faith is what makes us love what is good and right.
