Giving 1Co 16:1-2 “Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.

Giving “as prospered” Many Clues in New Testament
Mark 12: Widow with two mites. 2 Cor. 8:1-8 The Givers of Macedonia. 2 Cor. 9:6-7 Cheerful heart This is all helpful, but doesn’t really define giving “as prospered.”
5
Many Types of Giving in the OT
First fruits (Ex. 23:19) Temple Tax (Ex. 30:13-16) Free-Will/Peace Offerings (Lev. 3) Tithe
6
What is the Tithe? Tithe is given on the increase Tithe = 1/10th
Deut. 14:22 “Thou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which cometh forth from the field year by year.” Deut. 14:28 “. . . thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase. . .” Tithe = 1/10th Lev 27:32 “And every tithe of herds and flocks, every tenth animal of all that pass under the herdsman's staff, shall be holy to the LORD.” The only Biblical definition we have of giving “as prospered”is the tithe.
7
If 10% is good enough for God, it should be good enough for the IRS
Temple tax: One day’s pay for every male 20+ years old. Exo 30: “This they shall give, every one that passeth over unto them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel for an offering to Jehovah. Every one that passeth over unto them that are numbered, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the offering of Jehovah.” First Fruits of Harvest Peace Offerings Between 30% and 40%!

Other OT Giving First Fruits God should get the first of what we have.
Exo 23:19 “The first of the first-fruits of thy ground thou shalt bring into the house of Jehovah thy God.” Lev 23:10 “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring the sheaf of the first-fruits of your harvest unto the priest:” Exo 13:2 “Sanctify unto me all the first-born, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.” God should get the first of what we have. Mat 6:33 “But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. “
