2 14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

3 I am not ashamed of the gospel.
A Bold Proclamation I am not ashamed of the gospel.

4 Ashamed: Unwilling or restrained because of fear of shame, ridicule, or disapproval.

5 Ashamed: Unwilling or restrained because of fear of shame, ridicule, or disapproval. Shame: the painful feeling arising from the consciousness of something dishonorable, improper or ridiculous, done by oneself or another.

6 Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26

7 The Gospel The good news about the person of Jesus Christ, God himself, who became human flesh, lived a holy life, then sacrificed his life on the cross to pay the penalty of our sin, and then conquered death by rising again three days later.

8 Why Is There No Shame in the Gospel?
Because the gospel is the very power of God for spiritual eternal salvation. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation…

9 Who Has Received This Salvation Power?
Everyone who continues to believe the powerful gospel truth. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

10 How Does Gospel Power Save People?
The gospel reveals the righteousness from God and imparts it to us. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith…

11 Ways We are Tempted to Be Ashamed of the Gospel
We dismiss, make light of, or redefine sin to the point of emptying the gospel of its power.

12 Ways We are Tempted to Be Ashamed of the Gospel
We compromise and dilute the gospel and our witness so that people will like and respect us.

13 Ways We are Tempted to Be Ashamed of the Gospel
We choose to be ashamed of the powerful saving gospel rather than face social humiliation.
