Location and Access/Egress: Forestry Commission woodland on flattish ground with well maintained paths and public bridleways. Minibuses use public car park (£1 per day to park). Coach drop off in gateway opposite public car park/ along the road from the car park entrance (without blocking road access). Toilets at the café – they would like us to use the café if using the facilities.

Site Description: Heathland with conifer plantation surrounding large working quarry, several fireponds. Popular dog walking site with cafe and carpark. Nice flora.
Nearest Vehicle Access: From A49 Shrewsbury outer ring road take B5062Shrewsbury to Newport .After approx 2miles approx 600m beyond the turn to Haughmond Abbey turn right on minor road at top of wooded slope. After 500m on minor road turn right into the car park.

Avoid the area of woodland being worked, if possible, keep the group out of the way of heavy vehicles if necessary to walk near them. Brief the group before entering the woodland about the forestry operations taking place, and advise caution/behaviour expectations.
