2. Utah’s Indigenous plants, wildlife, and land
Soooooo exciting!

3. Indigenous Plants Indigenous = natural to the state of Utah.
Sagebrush, grasses, dwarf oak, and willows in the valley.
Pine trees and aspens in the mountains.
Sagebrush covers more land area then any other plant!

4. Land Distribution
Public land-owned by federal and state governments (mountains, valleys, plateaus).
Private- We own the land! YEA!

5. BLM? It’s the Bureau of Land Management Federal government
Its for “multiple use” lands.
4-wheeling, dirt biking, hiking…etc.
Historical and archeological site visits.
Animal grazing…MOOOOO!

6. Wilderness Area Set aside by congress to preserve the “wild state”
Only camping, hiking or horseback riding are permitted. No paved roads. No motor vehicles.

7. Trust lands
The Government gave Utah schools these trust lands to make money for education.
Surface: people pay rent to use the lands such as movie sets, ski resorts, farms, industrial sites etc.
Mineral: Mine oil, gas, coal, uranium, and other minerals.
Sales: sold for houses, farms and ranches.
All this money goes to a savings account and the interest is used for the schools.
