Don’t you need qualifications to be a school governor?
No – just an interest in your child’s education, enthusiasm and commitment.
You don’t need to know anything, as you’ll gets lots of support from other governors and training is available.
I don’t know anything about running a school!
Meetings are held about 6 – 10 ten times a year. Usually in the evenings. You would need to spend time outside the meeting reading any paperwork. You would need to attend training.
How much time would I need to give?
It will let you develop new skills which may help you in your own work. It will help develop your confidence and may open up new avenues for you.
