2. What is an ecosystem?
An ecosystem is a place where all the animals and plants live together in balance.
Different plants and animals live in different ecosystems.
Some animals are part of many ecosystems.

An animal lives where it can find food, water, shelter and a mate.

5. Living things All living things need food to live.
Living things in an ecosystem depend on each other for food.

6. Carnivores
Some animals, like the fox eat only other animals. These animals are called “carnivores”.

Some animals don’t eat other animals. They eat plants and are “herbivores”.

8. Omnivores Some animals, like us, eat both plants and animals.
These animals are “omnivores”.

9. Consumers “Consume” means “eat”.
Animals are consumers because they “eat” (consume) living-things

Plants are living organisms. They need nourishment to survive.
But…
Plants do not eat other plants or animals.
Plants are called producers, because they produce their own food using sunlight.
