7. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS What does entry requirements mean?
Tourists may require various documents including visa and vaccination certificates depending upon which destination they choose to travel to

They can take time to acquire and therefore will prevent tourists from choosing ‘last minute’ destinations
They can also add extra cost to the holiday
They might not like injections!

9. TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
These are put in place by the government when it is not wise to visit a destination usually because it is dangerous politically or as a result of disease outbreak.

If tourists have already booked a holiday the tour operator will offer an alternative or a refund.

The safety of visitors can be due to many different reasons and our most present threat is from terrorist activity.
The Foreign office can advise tourists to some extent but do not know where terrorist activity will occur however they may be able to say where it is ‘heightened’.
In 2010, Jamaica saw several shootings and tourists were encouraged to stay well away from Kingston, the capital of Jamaica.
There are several countries around the globe with a high terror threat and you may choose to research this in your assignment

Health restrictions normally relate to vaccinations required and sometimes which countries to avoid due to disease breakout for example in 2009 when swine flu put travellers off visiting Mexico.

15. SOCIAL SITUATIONS
Often tourists may decide not to travel to countries for ethical reasons as they would find it hard to enjoy a luxurious holiday whilst others nearby are living in extreme poverty for example in parts of India or The Gambia in Africa.
