1 Writing Poetry

2 Learning Intentions To be able to write in first or third person narrative. To include imagery into our poems. To document our success and things to develop via a learning log

3 Your Task Your task is to write a poem, based on Robert the Bruce or the Spider. You may choose to write in first or third person narrative – make sure you stick in this narrative voice. You should include three different types of poetic techniques in your poem. Look at the back of your jotters for any further help. Try to keep a rhythm going (roughly the same number of beats (syllables) in each line.

4 youtu.be – The Legend of Bruce & the Spider – Robert the Bruce’s Cave

5 Ideas… You could write from the perspective of Robert the Bruce.
You could write from the perspective of the Spider. Plan out what’s going to happen – think back to the plot triangle. Make sure you have a main event (climax) that happens. Are you going to use a rhyme scheme?

6 Success Criteria For you to have planned out your poem
For you to have chosen to write in 1st or 3rd person narrative and remained in that narrative voice throughout the poem. For you to have used at least three different poetic techniques within your writing For you to have reflected on your learning via a learning log (on wikispaces, through Discussion tab on Poetry).
