2 Overview Clients implementation uses Control System Studio (CSS) based on V.3.16 Control system implementation uses (EPICS) base Development and administration platforms use Scientific Linux 6.4 Git version Control System is used to track development & documentation Siemens S7 PLCs are used for the machine protection system Allen Bradley PLC is used for the Personal Safety System (PSS). Servers are implemented as EPICS Input/Output Controllers (IOCs) SESAME-SAC2016-Ibrahim 5/12/2016

Four infrastructure virtual servers Repositories, Bugzilla, Wiki, Elog Server-IS0 Alarm Handler (BEAST) Server-IS1 DHCP, DNS, NFS, TFTP Server-IS2 Archiver (BEAUTY) [1 TB Storage] Server-IS3 Eight virtual servers for IOCs Vacuum IOC Power IOC RF IOC Diagnostics IOC Timing IOC PSS IOC PLC IOC Motion IOC All clients, servers and controllers are connected to an isolated machine network. Machine Protection System Overview and Status SIEMENS S7-300 PLC is used for MPS. Input/Output modules are distributed into four quadrants to cover 16 SR cells. One main CPU for Vacuum and Diagnostics is communicating with remote I/Os through a PROFINET network to cover all the quadrants. One main CPU for Cooling and Power Supplies One main CPU for RF system. One main CPU for TL2. Motion Control System Motion controller is GALIL DMC-21x3 Stepper motors drive is Applied motion ST5-S (Up to 5A) Servo motors drive is Ingenia NIX 48/10 Motion crate designed in SESAME contains all the controller, motor drives and power supplies needed to control the motors. 22 Beamlines Control System
Motion Control System Status Motion crate will be able to control up to 8 motors. (8 Axes) Prototype was ready one year ago and tested on the motors with the control system. All the components of the final production crate are ready in sesame. The electronics group are working now to fix all the components inside the crate. At the end of this year final crates will be ready to be installed in the racks SESAME-SAC2016-Ibrahim 5/12/2016

23 Beamlines Control System
Motion Control System (EPICS) Motion control system is connected to EPICS. We are using Galil controller EPICS support written by Mark Clift (Australian Synchrotron) We have tested the motors (Servo and Stepper) installed in the RF cavities with EPICS and all was controlled fine. Final test to be done at the end of this year when the final crate will be ready. Coordinated motion feature is available with EPICS. We are using MEDM and CSS for graphical user interfaces. All MEDM screens are ready for the motors. CSS screens are almost ready and need some minor modifications. SESAME-SAC2016-Ibrahim 5/12/2016

Machine Protection System Overview SIEMENS S7-300 PLC is used for MPS. One CPU will be didicated for each Beamline. It will be didicated for the Front End and the beamline. Machine Protection System Status Racks building for XRF/XAFS beamline has been started in the lab but then stopped because of the lack of manpower. PLC to be programmed and tested on the devices. It should be look like SESAME-SAC2016-Ibrahim 5/12/2016

XRF/XAFS Beamline control system status All motors need to be tested again with the final motion crate. GUIs need to be done for Optics and End station. Control rack need to be built and installed in its location. Vacuum devices should be available for testing. Cabling need to be done. High level programming need to be done (Scanning tool) Detectors, wire monitors and other devices need to be controlled SESAME-SAC2016-Ibrahim 5/12/2016

Infrared and PD beamlines control system status Some requirements are collected for the Infrared and PD beamlines. Racks to be built for both beamlines (Motion and Control racks) Meetings to be set regularly between the control group and the beam lines scientists. Again no enough time and no manpower to proceed. 30 Beamlines Control System
Conclusion We were 3 engineers in the control group. Abdallah Ismail resigned last month in a very critical time. We are now two engineers and we will be very busy in the machine commissioning. New engineers should be hired immediately. Outsource the beamlines control system (Part of it) is an available option. (Better if they can work in the site) Possibility of assigning one of the hired engineers to work on the beamlines control system (Need time to be trained and adapted) Regular meetings are very necessary between the control group and the beamlines scientests.
