1 Tips for Importing References from
OVID MEDLINE into Reference Manager 9 PART I Perform your search in MEDLINE. Use the feature known as Citation Manager, on the bottom of the titles display screen, to capture your results.

2 CITATIONS: Mark specific citations to save, save all citations on the page, save the entire set, or indicate a range of references to save FIELDS: Select Citation +Abstract+Subject Headings to add useful data to the basic citation information CITATION FORMAT: You must select Reprint/MEDLARS for a successful import. Do not check the "Include Search History Option" ACTION : Click Save. Make sure you save your output as a text file (add .txt to the file name)

3 PART II: Go to Reference Manager  
In Reference Manager, click on the References menu and select Import text file. The Reference Manager import dialog box will appear and three options are available to you.

4 Under Database, your active Reference Manager database name will be displayed by default. You may select another database, if desired. Under Filter, use the browsing box (gray box with the ellipsis to the left of the Edit Filter command) to view the selection of import filters which are included with your Reference Manager program. Select the OVID ONLINE(Reprint) [FJ] filter. Under Text file, enter the name of the file you have saved using OVID's citation manager. You may also choose to browse your directories to locate the file by clicking on the browsing box (gray box with the ellipsis to the left of the View Text File command).

5 Click on Import. You should be able to view Reference Manager processing the citations. Once the download is complete, you will see a screen with the message, "Import successfully completed."
