2 Communicable or Noncommunicable?
Lung cancer is Noncommunicable Noncommunicable- is when a disease can not be spread

3 Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Squamous Cell Carcinoma- begins with bronchi and does not spread quickly Andenocarcinoma- begins on outer edges of lungs; most common in woman and in people who have never smoked Large Cell Carcinomas- tumors grow on outer edges of lungs

Adenosquamous Carcinoma- begins in flattened cells Undifferentiated Carcinoma- abnormal looking cancer; spreads quickly

5 Small Cell Lung Cancer Cancer cells look like oat; grow rapidly and spreads to quickly to other organs

6 Symptoms Cough that does not go away and gets worse
Chest pain all the time Coughing up blood Loss of breath Problems with pneumonia and bronchitis Neck and face swelling Weight and appetite loss

7 Treatment Surgery Segmental or wedge resection- remove small part of lung Lobectomy- removal of entire lob of the lung Pneumonectomy- remove entire lung Chemotherapy- medicine that shrinks and kills cancer ; can be pills or IV Radiation- high-energy rays kill cancer cells External radiation- given out side of the body Internal radiation given inside of the body as close to the cancer as you can get Photodynamic therapy- laser treatment that injects photosensitizing chemical in to your blood

Recurring inflammation; tuberculosis Radon- the natural breakdown of uranium Family history of lung cancer Pollution

9 How Long Does It Last? Lung cancer never goes away unless the treatment works
