What is Outdoor Adventures
Outdoor Adventures is a brand new program for UTRGV. The goal of Outdoor Adventures is to give students opportunities to participate in outdoor activities in order to foster friendships, instill confidence in outdoor skills, provide opportunities for leadership development, and promote the ethics of conservation and stewardship. It consists of: Camping trips of various lengths Day trips to SPI and other activities close by Equipment rentals Other events on campus Any ideas that students may have for events are appreciated

Spring Break Camping Trip
Location: Big Bend Ranch State Park Dates: March 11-18 # of Spots: 22

What will we be doing? Camping
We will be staying at South Leyva campsites Located 1 mile from the visitors center Views from the campsite From the top you can see the historic Sauceda Ranch complex to the west. To the northwest, La Mota Mountain. On a clear day you can see south to the Sierra Ricca Mountains in Mexico and west to the Bofecillos Mountains that lie in the center of the park. The campground also offers easy access to the Leyva Canyon drainages for hiking

What will we be doing? Hiking Ojito Adentro Trail Cinco Tinajas Trail
Puerta Chilicote Trailhead In and Out of Time: Geologic Hike of Los Portales Shutup and the Righthand Shutup, El Solitario

What will we be doing? Camp Fires River Rafting Birding Ranger Tours
This would be extra $ ($63-$75 per person) if enough people are interested we will attempt to schedule it for those people. Birding More than 300 species of bird live in the park (BYOBinoculars) Ranger Tours Mountain Biking Tour (You can rent a bike) Hiking and Interpretive Tours Horseback Riding Another activity that would cost extra to rent the horses and go on the tour.

Also for going you get… How much does it cost? $220
What does this include? Transportation, camping fees, and food while camping. What it doesn’t include? Food while traveling (aka Fast Food, Gas Station) Extra snacks (we will provide some fruit and granola bars) Any activities with additional fees you want to do on your own Port Authority Vest w/UREC logo

How do you sign up? For coming to the informational meeting you get priority registration over people who didn’t go to the meeting. This priority registration run from now until December 11th at 4PM. For those who go to the meetings it is still first come first serve (ex: 25 people go to the meetings, the first 22 to register get guaranteed spots) Registration link will go out tomorrow to everyone else through V-Link: Social Media (Twitter and Facebook) Registration closes on January 5th . Payment instructions will be sent out once the trip has reached capacity or January 5th, whichever comes first.
