1 or 10 ways to get your club noticed
Public Image Top 10 or 10 ways to get your club noticed

2 10) Memorable means Consistent
We have a GREAT brand Our clubs are autonomous but we all share the same values and passion Using the Rotary Mark helps us share that message In 2012 Rotary launched it’s updated brand with new messaging. One of our greatest strengths is when we’re joined together in service. It’s in our best interest to adopt a consistent look.

3 9) Your Phone can be your best Advocate
Photos Video Posting on Social Media It seems almost everyone is walking around with a smart phone these days – which means you have instant access to stills, videos and can upload them directly to social media or send them to someone that can.

4 8) Make Photos Fun You can capture Rotary “in the moment” by taking fun photos, short video clips or live streaming – capture your club and members out and about, active and engaged, up close and personal. Action shots – that’s not a posed picture handing over a check.

5 7) Staying Active in Social Media
Set up a weekly schedule Have 2 or 3 admins Talk about other organizations you partner with Use the events feature to generate buzz Your cover photo is the most important real estate Milestones When each member likes a post is shows up in their newsfeed for a little while When each member shares a post it is on their home page for all to see You can share the work of social media, but it helps to have a plan! Teach your members how to engaged with social media. Have a meeting where personal digital devices (smart phones, tablets) are required and you fine those that don’t have them 

6 6) Social Goes Beyond Facebook
Add Rotary to your individual profiles on LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and more Share photos or status updates about your activities with your Rotary Club Don’t be a closet Rotarian. Do your social media profiles show your Rotary involvement? You can fill out ‘volunteer’ profiles on LinkedIn. You can name Rotary as an organization you work for, even though it’s on a volunteer basis.

7 5) Your Web Site google.com/analytics
If you can’t see it clearly on a phone or ipad – it can not be seen Maintain up to date information Use the rotary mark google.com/analytics Have you ever looked at your club’s website on your phone? You should! Make sure it’s mobile friendly. If you’re a ClubRunner site you can take advantage of new themes that are mobile-friendly. Our District site was changed over at start of October (2016). Be sure you are featuring the Rotary brand, and that it’s current! No old themes And no legacy wheels.

8 4) / Newsletters Engaged Rotarians are passionate about what they do and love sharing it Include an sign up on your web site. Lots of different options Mailchimp – free Clubrunner Constant Contact Keep in touch with members, and make it easy for others to stay in touch with you. Includes subscription, and also include prominent links to your social media presence at club website.

9 3) Be friends with the Press
Google your club name “My Town Rotary Club” click on news Follow up Event Announcements with Post event results Submit to local calendars, photos collections, etc Use those engaging photos when it comes to earning editorial press coverage, and don’t forget to report before, during and after the event. There are more online, free resources than ever available to help you promote events. NOTE – Building Media / Public Image Contact Database In any given town you’re not going to have an endless list of media targets. Take the time to figure out who they are – and find out: Do they have a social media presence that would allow post by club? Do they have an online calendar at their website that allows you to post on club’s behalf? Expand this list to include: Chamber of Commerce – assuming they allow releases to members Local young professionals organizations Key contacts in schools, community college, vocational training programs Partner organizations (e.g. nonprofits, corporate sponsors)

10 2) Buy ads in your Regional Paper
Artwork – use a caption Titles Body / Copy Contact Info You can join forces with other clubs, leverage funds and get better coverage/reach. You could almost use a tagline “Google Your Town Rotary Club” to find a club near you.

11 1) YOU At the end of the day, we’re all Rotarians and each of us has a story. Share it. Encourage others do the same.
