Qarqe’an Festivals

Qarqe’an is an annual tradition located in some Arabic countries.
The word Qarqe’an takes from (Qarqa’ah) which means click or snick.

In the middle of Ramadan children take their bags and they stand in front the neighbor doors then they singing traditional songs to get sweets .

The origin of this festival goes back to the birth of prophet Mohammed’s grandson Hasan ibn Ali when the prophet daughter Fatimah gave out colored sugar cubes to the people in celebration of her new born child on 15th of Ramadan. When the kids of Madinah heard about the news of the birth, they gathered around the prophet’s house singing and the prophet gave them sweets and dates.

The Qerqe’an meant to spread love , happiness and affection between adults and children .
