1 Impedimetric and Electrochemical analysis of Graphene oxide and its applications at different platforms Mahmood. H. Akhtar, K.S. Prasad, M.H. Naveen, D.-M. Kim, Y.-B. Shim Department of Chemistry, Pusan National University, Pusan, South Korea Abstract: Graphene oxide (GO), which is an allotrope of carbon having 2D crystal structure, has been successfully synthesized with the modified Hummer`s method. UV, FT-IR, TEM and AFM study showed good quality of synthesized material. Due to the valence and conduction bands touch in two independent points called K and K`; graphene acts as zero-band gap semiconductor and has good electrical conductivity merit attention. Even though at zero-level carrier’s density, its conductivity does not vanish linearly. Considering this aspect, we investigated its electrical behavior in terms of impedance. Under different circumstances, it showed more optimized characteristics which have further applicability in sensing. UV and IR spectra for GO AFM&TEM images of GO and, ID/IG ratio of different GO samples CV’s of GO and GC in 1 mM K3Fe(CN)6 CV’S of different GO modified electrodes in 1 mM Ru(NH3)6Cl3 and the relationship of anodic peak current with respect to sonication time Nyquist diagram for GO, 3GO,6GO,9GO, and 12GO modified GC in 0.1 M KCl containing 2 mM K3Fe(CN)6 / K4Fe(CN)6 . CV’s for NADH oxidation at GO and 12GO Conclusions Tuning of edge plane sites in GO Maintaining the inherent oxygen functionalities XPS analysis of all samples showed –C-O-C, -C=O-C, C-C & C-H Enhanced electrochemical activity Improved conductivity Enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards NADH XPS for GO Acknowledgment: The authors would like to thank NRF for funding
