Approx. 60% of all calls logged with PTHB IT are fixed by the service desk at first point of contact, staff often bypass the first line team altogether and go directly to second line support (Walk ups / direct telephone and contact). BC and DR gaps. Documented processes work in progress currently 60% completed expected completion 31/3/2017 Whilst we have comprehensive backups, they are not tested or monitored.

National programme – issues
PTHB is often last to install a national product due to the need for other health boards to be live because PTHB often use other health services. E.g. test requesting PTHB are leading on Cross border (England) the National programme has limited benefits to PTHB without a cross border (England) capability. There is a lot of national work which requires PTHB involvement but capacity is limiting e.g. ward management system, POCT, ICNET etc.

Opportunities Integrated resources (these have been identified as improvements in the ICT service improvement plan) The partnership vision is for a joint ICT team for both PCC and PTHB maximising the skills and capacity that exist in the two teams. To do this we have defined joint processes for incident and problem management (based on ITIL). Better understand service requests from incidents and measure responses accordingly Create an improved relationship between 1st and 2nd line support teams Co-location of PCC and PTHB staff Improved access to IT and processes based on first and second line (reduce the need for walk in’s) Setup a service management board Modernise services Smartphones / BOYD Improving BC/DR through cloud deployments Agile working via cloud services Improve telephony including VOIP (2017/18) Supporting staff to get more from their IT
