Do Now October 20, 2015 Warm-up: How do you know if your drawing is cliché? What should your drawing look like if it’s not cliché? Draw the fortune cookie in contour. Page 43 Objective: (Copy onto your paper) SWBAT demonstrate knowledge of observational drawing by drawing a flower using contour line and is free of clichés. Office Hours Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:00 PAST DUE: Artist statement & collage

3 Art Room Rules… Electronics put away!** Be RESPECTFUL!!!
No Food during class!** **If you choose to consume food during class, you will be assigned detention to be served immediately following class, in which you will be washing the tables. Yes, this might make you tardy to your next class, but it will not be excused. Drink only drinks with lids that screw on! Electronics put away!** **If you do not keep electronics put away during class, your class will loose the privilege of using them during studio time! Bags off your desk and out of the aisles!

9 Classwork (These will go in your notebook this time
Classwork (These will go in your notebook this time!) You’re doing 4 drawings today!!! Fold your paper in half (hamburger style). Choose one flower off the cart to draw. Draw that flower once using regular contour drawing. (Use one continuous line, NO LIFTING YOUR PENCIL!!!) Repeat steps two and three until each space is filled. YOU MUST DRAW THE ENTIRE CLASS PERIOD!!!!! DO NOT RUSH!!!!!!!!! THIS IS PRACTICE TO HELP YOU GET BETTER!!!!!!! IF IT’S SLOPPY AND LOOKS LIKE YOU PUT VERY LITTLE EFFORT IN (Or I see you not drawing during the class period because you’re on your phone, you’re doing work for a different class, etc….), YOU WILL NOT GET CREDIT FOR YOUR WORK TODAY!!!!!!!! IT WILL BE AN ‘F’ IN THE GRADEBOOK!!!

Studio Time C—Level 2 H—Raise a Hand A—Follow instructions M—In Seat P—Head up, working on poster, active participation Drawing Instructions: 1. Use CONTOUR LINE to draw one of the flowers from the cart (10 Pts) 2. Do not lift your pencil (5 Pts) 3. Include ALL the unique details of the flower= wrinkles, folds, bumps, lines, etc. (10 Pts) 4. Draw large, fill the page (5 pts) Written Response (back of paper) (10pts each) What is the hardest part of drawing in contour? Are you seeing improvements in your drawing skills? Why or why not?
