10 2-History Portuguese are the first european in Cameroon. They arrived on Cameroon's doorstep called Worry in the 15th century. The name of cameroon comes from this presence. Fernando PÔ is the first portuguese who came in Cameroon in Cutt of by to many prawn in the river, he decided to call this river, river of prawns, in portuguese Río dos Camarões. And It’s became in english Cameroons and now Cameroon.

11 2-History The early European presence in Cameroon was primarily devoted to coastal trade and the acquisition of slaves. But, conquest of interior has be done by German until After Munich agreements in 1882, this is the physionomy of Cameroon.

14 After the defeat of Germany, Cameroon has been put under tutelage of two countries: England and France until 1960, when French Cameroon became independant

16 2-History on October 1, 1961, the largely Muslim northern two-thirds of Bristish Cameroons voted to join Nigeria; the largely Christian southern third, Southern Cameroons, voted to join with the Republic of Cameroon to form the Federal Republic of Cameroon

17 2-History In 1972, a new constitution replaced the federation with a unitary state, the United Republic of Cameroon. From 1972 to 1984, cameroon put in place a new constitution and became, United Republic of Cameroon. After 1984, United Republic of Cameroon became Republic of Cameroon with a new constitution.
