User manager for domain. It updates the domain database and is available on Primary Domain Control and Backup Domain Control The Security Account Manager is maitained in Domain Controller One set of permission - three groups allows users to belong to multiple groups access files owned by groups The multi-user design support remote access at multiple level

Resource sharing is performed using Server Message Blocks(Being replace by Common Internet File System) Network Information Service -. Built on the client/server model . NIS server(master and slave) contain data files called maps. NFS-Net work File system.

FUNCTIONALITY(1) All the users can do is to access files and printer after logging on.They can not run any application. They can only run special applications that have been written in two pieces,ie. Client/server applications. By logging on in to a UNIX server, they can run any application. It includes graphic-based applications since X-server software is standard issue on all UNIX OS

FUNCTIONALITY(2) Need separate e-mail server
Only provide file-level security No any mechanism for limiting a user’s disk usage Drive letters which impose hardware limitation Send mail Program software for performing this elementary control shared network file systems to be mounted at any point in a directory structure.
