CHALLENGES Limited resources (both human resources and capital);
Absence of appropriate and suitable Management Information System and Database. Delegates reflecting under incorrect Managers/Supervisors; Communications and notifications to attend training suffers. This has a huge impact on non-attendance, leading to planned/scheduled training to be cancelled; Staff structure according to the organogram and the actual practicality of staff structure is not synchronized. Hence the difficulty in communicating to relevant/appropriate Line Management. This also contributes to non-attendance and facilitation of the WSP; Current application is not appropriately and suitably customized in the management of a skills development environment; leading to added pressure of managing information manually and electronically (dual systems); 6/20/2018 SHAKS RAMLUCKEN

CHALLENGES (Cont.) When events are scheduled, inability to specify venues with number of seats allocated; When employees are removed from the payroll, the employee’s complete training profile and details are no longer available; and There are very strict deadlines to be met, both for internal and external purposes in terms of reporting. Inability for data capturers to capture simultaneously. Other technical training schools within the Council provide for discipline-specific training. However difficulty is experienced in acquiring statistics when reporting to LGSETA on the WSP, Annual Training Report (ATR) and Pivotal Training. As an organization all training needs to be encapsulated into these reports; and this forms SDU’s core functionality.

RECOMMENDATIONS 6/20/2018 SHAKS RAMLUCKEN
A reliable, accurate, secure, effective, simple, live and user-friendly Integrated Management Information System and Database; The availability of statutory, non-statutory, adhoc and easily-manipulated reports for customized needs; Reports that are available immediately; Flexibility of more than one person working on the system at a time; Selected screens for the different categories of end-users, eg. Skills Development Practitioners, Trainers, Data Capturers, Assisted Education Administrators; Limited number of screens for capturing and simple applications; Employee training, education and qualification profile available; Access and availability to system must be immediate and downtime to be minimal; Several automated functions such as automatic scheduling of events, issuing of training notifications via s/sms, and etc; Automated updates on employee profiles, reports and etc. when information is captured; and Customized system to meet needs of the SDU’s business processes and procedures. 6/20/2018 SHAKS RAMLUCKEN
