Welcome to East Cobb Middle School! ~ Class of 2024 ~ Mrs. Audra Bothers Math 6 and Accelerated Math 6/7

5 All students are held to the same high expectations in my class and in school.

6 Entering the Classroom
Line up against the wall outside the classroom. Enter quietly when I instruct you to do so. Sit in your assigned seat. Write tonight’s assignment in your agenda. Put last night’s homework on your desk. Begin your warmup.

7 YOU are responsible for bringing these to class EVERY day:
YOU are responsible for bringing these to class EVERY day: MSG, pencil/eraser, paper, binder Class supplies may only be used before class begins OR with permission.

8 Sharpening Pencils or Borrowing Supplies
Sharpen pencils BEFORE class begins. If your pencil breaks during class, do not interrupt. You may: - use a handheld sharpener - borrow from a neighbor - hold your pencil in the air and wait for a signal from your teacher - use your REP stamps to buy a pencil (when possible)

9 Keep your area (desk and aisle) neat and clean
Keep your area (desk and aisle) neat and clean. Legs and feet should be under your desk, and your belongings should be in the basket under your desk or on top of your desk.

10 Group Work See Group Work poster.

11 Individual Work Keep eyes on your own paper and complete your OWN work. Raise your hand if you have questions. (What do you think happens if you talk to your neighbor?

12 During Instruction RAISE YOUR HAND for permission to speak, and make sure your conversation is on task. Instructional time is not the time to socialize. LISTEN to your teachers AND classmates. I will NOT repeat myself if you are off task. You will have to figure it out.

13 Talking & Blurting Out Talking out-of-turn is harmful and disrespectful to EVERYONE. YOU miss out, your PEERS miss out, and the TEACHER has to relay information again, which wastes class time for everyone. Just don’t. If you have something to say or ask, RAISE YOUR HAND or wait until an appropriate time. Don’t interrupt. I will use the 5-Step Behavior Plan to deal with talking. Excessive talking can lead to detention and even ISS.

14 If you have a question during group work or an activity, raise your hand and let the teacher come to you. Be PATIENT!

15 Communication Math is a skill in which practice makes perfect. Make sure you always participate, and let me know if you don’t understand.

16 Participation is very important
Participation is very important! It’s hard for me to help you if I don’t know whether you understand. 

17 Don‘t be this little dude!! 
Homework will be assigned almost every Monday-Thursday. On Thursdays, you should study for the quiz/test the next day. Keep up with weekly online assignments. Forgot what your homework is? Check your AGENDA or the BLOG. Don‘t be this little dude!! 

18

19 Grades Check StudentVue (Synergy) regularly to stay on top of your grades. We have four quarter grading periods. Final grades are issued in October, January, March, and May.

20 Make-up Work Make-up work is YOUR responsibility! NOT mine! (You’re not in elementary anymore, Toto!) Please look on the blog for any missing assignments and handouts given.

21 Extra Credit EC is only given if ALL assigned work is turned in AND the student has participated and shown a good work ethic. EC is NOT given for a student who simply wants to raise a grade at the last minute, and has multiple zeros.

22 Restroom Breaks First and last 10 minutes of class are dead time – NO ONE is allowed out of class! You must have the appropriate passes in order to go. NO AGENDA = NO PASS!

23 You must ALWAYS have a pass when in the hallways, except during transitions.

24 Tardy to Class Get a pass if you know you will be late.
You will NOT be able to leave to get a pass. Multiple tardies will follow the 5-step behavior management plan, and can lead to a loss of lockers, detention, referrals, etc.

25 Substitutes Just remember to always “REP” ECMS!
You should ALWAYS show REP, especially when other adults are present. You only have one chance to make a first impression! You are expected to follow the directions given by ANY adult at ECMS, including subs! Substitutes Just remember to always “REP” ECMS!

26 Treat others as you wish to be treated!

27 VISITORS Students must greet visitors/adults when entering the class.
Students will behave appropriately when a visitor of ANY KIND is in the classroom! We should always REP ECMS and make a good impression.

28 Fire Drills Students will take all Emergency drills in a serious manner. Line up according to your teacher’s directions. No talking. Exit building in a single file line and stay with the class. Listen for attendance.

29 Lunch Time! Line up in a single file line.
Exit the room without talking. We will have an opportunity to use the bathroom/wash hands before lunch. Talking is not allowed in the hall. It is selfish to disturb other classes, and doesn’t demonstrate “REP.” Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. There is no playing in the line.

30 Lunch Time continued! Write down your lunch number in your agenda, so you don’t forget. You have only one chance to get everything you need. If you touch an item, you must keep it. Don’t put it back. Once you are seated, you are to stay in your seat until your teacher dismisses you. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself at lunch. No electronics should be heard or seen. Make sure you clean up your area. Place your tray in the trash. This is not an option!

31 Math Lab/Computer Lab Going to the lab is a privilege. This privilege can and will be revoked if you cannot meet expectations. Go only to specified websites. Stay on task, and keep your voice down.

32 Phone / Electronic Devices
Review the phone chart. Most of the time, phones should not be seen or heard. When phone use is allowed, use it as instructed. Do not visit sites you aren’t supposed to, or listen to music without permission.

33 Dismissing from Class Clean up your area and put your materials away only AFTER you have been given permission. Place all trash inside a garbage can. (Not in a desk and not during instruction). Clean up any trash on the floor and make sure your desks are straight and neat. After you are dismissed BY ME, push your chair under your desk.

34 Look for ways to be helpful.
Treat others the way you want to be treated Be a team player! Take responsibility for your actions. Believe in yourself!
