Flexible lines production and planning
Claudio Bortolin (PH-UAT) Jan Godlewski (PH-DT) Bart Verlaat (Nikhef) Sven Vogt (MPI) Review of the IBL detector to cooling system interface - 11 March 2014

The program Optimize the design of the components (Sven’s talk) ✔
Purchase the components: flex hoses, Swagelok fittings, vacuum parts ✔ Contact the welders and the mechanical technicians for the production ✔ Purchase the orbital welding heads ✔ Pre-agreement with EN-MME for X-Rays checks schedule and availability ✔ Delivery of the purchased components: partially delivered Flex line parts production and assembly: work in progress Orbital welding and X-Rays: between week 12 to 15 Flex lines leak tests: week 15 and 16

General schedule
4
Week 10-11 MLI insulation: done (G. Glonti and P. Gach)
Flex hoses (11 m): delivered Orbital welding heads: partially delivered Brazing test: several testes carried out to optimize the design. Still waiting for metallography check Brazing made by: Agostino Vacca (EN-MME)

Orbital welding program
We have to carry out 28 OW 4mm, 28 OW 17.2mm, 14 OW 14mm, 14 OW ¼”, 42 OW 3mm. Week 12: 14 OW 4mm and X-Rays + 28 OW 17.2mm Week 13: 14 OW 4mm and X-rays + 14 OW 14mm Week 14: 14 OW ¼” +X-Rays + part of the OW 3mm Week 15: rest of OW 3mm + X-rays
12
Manufacturing of the parts
Rotatable connector: machining of the pieces being carried out at MPI (delivery at CERN from this week); the first prototype leak and pressure tests were successful Dynamometric wrench: 25 Nm to seal the connection (Swagelok specification) ¼”Gasket Nut Sealing glands
13
Leak test Helium leak test: we will pressurize the liquid and gas pipes and check any leak with the vacuum hoses connected to a leak detector Cap Helium Bottle at Cristal palace Helium leak detector
14
Summary Material ordered: partly delivered to CERN
MLI insulation concluded The Swagelok components are being machined: first delivery to CERN this week Orbital welding program has been defined: very tight schedule starting from next week. Welding heads being delivered, still waiting for the smaller ones Brazing joint design optimization and test done last week: still waiting for metallography check Leak test will take place before moving the flex lines to SR1
