Literacy
This week we have been concentrating on the beginning chapters of Peter Pan. We have especially enjoyed learning about the different characters in the story especially Tinkerbell and Peter Pan. We have also enjoyed predicting what happens next in the story. Next week we will be flying into Neverland and learning about the lost boys.
This week we have started our new topic which is Peter Pan, Fairies and Pirates.
Reception have had a very exciting week. They have been making magic fairy potions, designing and building fairy homes and have been playing and acting out the beginning part of the story in the role play corner.
Phonics
This week we have learnt two new sounds which are ‘m’ and ‘d’. We have been looking at their formations and have been finding different things around the classroom that start with these sounds. We also continued to practice reading cvc words. Additionally, we have now started writing some cvc words using the sounds that we have learnt.
Maths
This week we have been learning to count out objects to match a given numeral between 1-10.
Next week we will be concentration on naming 2D shapes and describing their properties. It would be fantastic if you could do some practice at home.
Notices
This weeks homework is sound ‘d’ and ‘m’ in your child’s sound book.
Due to this weeks inset day your child’s reading book will be changed next Tuesday. Children will also have the opportunity to read there key words next Tuesday and Friday.
