3 Overview An appositive is a noun or pronoun that immediately follows another noun or pronoun for the purpose of: further identifying clarifying explaining the first noun or pronoun

Indirect object MVT+IO+DO Predicate nominative MVL+SC Object of a Preposition PR+OP

7 Predicate Nominative A noun or pronoun subject complement (SC) that follows a linking verb and renames the subject. Example: ns mvl aj sc Katie is my friend. NO ACTION!!

8 Appositive A noun or pronoun that immediately follows another noun or pronoun for the purpose of further identifying, clarifying, or explaining the first noun or pronoun. Example ap I gave George, the painter, your keys.

9 Indirect Object A verb complement (vc) that follows a transitive verb, precedes a direct object, and usually answers the question To Whom? For whom? To What? Or For what? The instructor gave John the answer.

10 Direct Object A verb complement that follow a transitive verb and answers the question What? Or Whom? The company manufactures toys.

11 SUBJECT The part of the sentence about which something is being said and best answers the question Whom or what are we talking about? Who or what is doing something? ns mvi pr op Lisa lives in Florida.
