Mr. Morton is the subject of my sentence and what the predicate says he does. Mr. Morton is the subject of my sentence and what the predicate says he does. The subject is noun that’s a person place or thing it’s who or what the sentence is about.

So according to Mr. Morton the subject is a noun…a person, place or thing the sentence is about. What about in this sentence? He went down the street.

4 Pronouns can be the subject too!!
A pronoun a word that takes the place of a noun in a sentence. Examples: She went for a walk. It was cold. They are crazy!

7 Simple Subject vs. Complete Subject
Simple subject: the main word or words in the complete subject. It tells exactly whom or what the sentence is about. Complete Subject: Includes all the words that tell whom or what the sentence is about. Example: The fifth-grade class went to visit the White House.

9 Compound Subjects Some sentences have TWO subjects in a sentence.
Example: Cities and suburbs are near each other. Cities and suburbs are BOTH the subject of the sentence. Let’s try some examples.. Longitude and Latitude help you locate places on a globe. Mountains and valleys appear on a relief map.
