Focus – Share pages in Literature Textbook How to Read a Poem – pp – “Riding Lesson” and “Introduction to Poetry” “Valentine for Ernest Mann” poem on pp – Lyric poem, simile, personification, metaphor Complete questions on p. 627 #1-6 with a partner in class (turn in one page with both names) Assignment: Write a lyric poem. Try to find a lyric poem in your life. Use words that will help your readers see, hear, touch or smell an object or person the way you do. Help your reader feel the way you feel about the object or person. WN: Does it have lyrics? Compare or link someone you care about to a type of music. Write about it!

Each person will be sharing their chosen poem aloud with the class While you are waiting on others, respond to your chosen poem in your writer’s notebook. What do you like about your poem? Does it rhyme?
