2. The Character of Our Witness
‘…shine as lights’
Same concept found in Gen.1:2,14,16
The light was both noticeable and intentional
Its purpose was to: (i) light the darkness, (ii) give direction in the darkness
Tense indicates that this is what we are, Matt.5:14
It’s a call to be different, to stand out, to act as a beacon of spiritual life and light before a dead and dark world, Eph. 2:1; John 1:5
Jesus is the character of our witness, John 1:4,5; 2 Cor. 4:6; Eph. 2:4,5; Gal. 5:22-25
Jesus must first be in us for him to shine through us!

3. The Content of Our Witness
`holding fast` - 2 meanings
Hold on with a firm grip
Extend it to others
`the word of life`
The gospel, the person and work of Christ
Let it be the content of your character!
Let it be your anchor and harbour for your soul!
Let it dictate the content of your witness!
