3. Gaining an Award - Undergraduate
To gain a Manchester Met award students must successfully complete all units with a minimum mark or in the case of a resit a capped mark of 40%
Students need a full 120 Credits to be eligible for an award

4. Progression
A unit is passed when an overall minimum mark of 40% is scored on the first attempt at the assessment(s)
Only at Diploma level will condonements in units be possible
Students on Diploma can be condoned in upto 30 credits where they acheived a overall unit mark of between 35 and 39%.
Where a condonement is awarded the unit mark does not change and the fail is still recorded on the transcript. However the credits are given to the student allowing the award to be granted.
NO Condonements are possible at any other level.

5. Resits
Where students do not acheive a overall mark of 40% in any single unit (with the exception of Diploma students who are eligible for condonement) then the student must resit the failed assessments
A resit mark will always be capped at 40%
Diploma students may take advantage of in-year resits where failed units can be given a quick resit within the same period of study. This is not available to other students on higher levels of study.
Student are automatically given one chance to resit.

6. Resits
Where a student does not engage in the resit opportunity they will not be permitted another opportunity.
Where the first resit opportunity is engaged with students will normally have one final opportunity to pass the unit.
Where a student fails in upto 90 credits of their academic programme they can be reassessed in all elements prior to the next commencement of study opportunity.
Where a student fails in more than 90 credits in any one year they will be required to resit the entire year with attendance

7. Awards - Honours
The first method of classification takes a weighted average of 25% of the weighted average of students marks at Higher Diploma combined with 75% of the weighted average of their marks at Degree. This overall average is then compared to the table below to work out the classification. Where a student is direct entry to the Degree they are calculated on the alternative method (next slide)

8. Awards Honours – Alternative Method
Where students have a Level 6 average within 2% of the next award band then the following rules apply. The below also applies to direct entry students to Degree.

9. Awards MBA MBA pass mark is 50% for all units.

10. Plagiarism - Diploma Type of Misconduct Penalty
First offence where the plagiarism or collusion does not represent more than 20% of the element of assessment
Assignment marked and no cap applied (Type of engagement: Developmental Engagement);
First offence where the plagiarism or collusion is greater than 20% of the element of assessment.
Written warning and a mark of 0 - with no opportunity to rework assessment - for the element carried forward (Type of engagement: Formal Meeting with Head of Department);
Second offence of any extent in any unit within the same programme of study
Further written warning and a mark of 0 - with no opportunity to rework assessment - for the element carried forward (Type of engagement: Formal Meeting with Head of Department);
Any subsequent offence anywhere within the same programme of study
mark of 0 for all units the student has taken so far at that level, and imposition of a 40% cap on unit marks in all further units taken at that level (Type of engagement: Formal Meeting with Head of Department);

11. Plagiarism – Higher Diploma/Degree
