Goal of US History 1- 2 & World History
Gain a knowledge of people and events that took place in US History & World History from 1300 to 2001

DAYS 2nd Semester Jan: 7 days Feb: 19 days (20th no school)
March: 24 days (24th end of 3rd Qt) April: days (14,17 no school) May: 17 days (May 24,25,26 Finals) Total: days (Early Release (13) is out at 1:00)

Being prepared for Class
Everyone must come to class prepared every day. Be in class Be on time for class Bring, notebook (used only for this class) Have a pen or pencil Teacher does not provide supplies

ID Badges / Handbook The safety of all students and staff is of highest priority. All school employees , staff and students will be required to wear photo identification badges. The ID badges will be required for admittance to the school building and to class. See page 46 of your student handbook.

You must have on your name tag on or you will not be allowed to stay in class and will need to go to the office for a temporary name tag .

Tardy Students are expected to report to class on time. A student is considered tardy if he/she is not in the classroom when the final bell rings.

Come in and get your work BEFORE leaving for competition. This is a school rule, not mine!

Electronic Communications Devices
Cell phone Students cell phones may not be used in the building during the school day and they must be turned off and out of sight. Consequences are stated in the discipline matrix in section five of this handbook.

Leaving the room Students will not be allowed to leave the class room to go to the Guidance Office or Office unless the office has sent a pass ahead of time! Don’t Ask!!!!!!!

Disruption of school: see in student hand book Inappropriate behavior in the class room. Students that conduct themselves in such a manner as to disrupt the educational process and or impede learning at school will be removed from class and dealt with as per the Discipline Matrix.

How will you be graded You will be graded on a point system, every assignment will have a point value assigned to it.

How will you be graded 1: You will have at least one test for each chapter. If it is a two chapter test the points will double. You will be informed. (Each answer is worth 2 points.) Note: If the test is over two chapters you can use your notes.

All work that is handed in must contain the following: A: Your Name: Place your first and last name in the space provided and if no space is provided write it in the upper right hand corner of your assignment. B: The Block: Place it in the space provided and if no space is provided write it in the upper right hand corner under your name on your assignment. C: Date: All work must have the date that it was handed on it.

Tests will be taken with the use of scantrons. A: Name: Write so I can read it, first and last names!!!! B: Subject: US History 1 or 2, Chapter # Test World History, Chapter # Test C: Date: Place the date that you took the test in the space provided. E: Period: Put your class block in this space F: Test Number: Place test # in the upper right hand corner of the scanton. (above the recycle sign)

Taking Notes: A: Taking notes is a requirement of my classes. B: You will need to have a note book that is used only for US History or World History. C: Notes will be taken from power point presentations.

D: How are you required to do your notes: 1st: Put the date at the start of your notes each class day in the left hand margin. 2nd: Label each chapter (example Chapter 1) 3rd: Label each section. (example Chapter 1 Section 2 The Northern Renaissance) Failure to do this will result in no points for that section!!!!!!!

E: You may write or type your notes If you write them, write so that they can be read. If you use your computer you must print a copy for grading and for later use.

Make–Up Work School Policy Students must make up work missed for an excused absence. Students will have at least as many excuse school days as they were absent, plus one additional day, to complete makeup work . If the makeup work is not completed in the allotted time, a zero will be given for the assignment.

It is your responsibility as a student of Central High School to get together with your teachers to find out what assignments you have missed when you have been absent. If you know you are going to be gone from school check with your teacher to get the work you will miss.

Attendance Is required for success in this class. If you are absent YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for any assignments, notes, or other materials covered that day as long as your absence is excused. Students must attend class through its entirety to pass.

Absents / Make up work IF YOU ARE GONE:
You have ONE WEEK to make up your work. This includes work sheets, notes and tests I will add seven days from when the assignment was due (weekends will count). If not in by this time, it is a zero. Come in before school, after school, or on my planning time to get your assignments.

Absents / Make up work DO NOT DISRUPT ANOTHER CLASS I HAVE. If notes were taken the day you were gone, make time to either copy mine or get them from someone else.

Make-up work Extra credit
Is not for the student with a grade of 80% or better and the student that misses or skips class and wants to make up for assignments that they should of done and handed in on time.

This is reserved for the students that are in class every day, doing their work, getting it in on time and taking their tests on time. But are having trouble passing the class.
