Elementary and Middle Schools point scale A= 455 to 700 points
B = 385 to 454 points
C = 330 to 384 points
D = 277 to 329 points
F = Less than 277 points
Where are we? In , OTMS earned 399 points based on student performance on the End of Year State Assessment. What are we doing in order to increase our number of earned points? Analyzing the data to guide instruction

CASE 21 DATA Next testing window…March 6-10
We take three Case 21 tests each year – 1st Quarter, 2nd Quarter, and 3rd Quarter The grades are given to us on a percent scale. Typically, the scores follow our own grading scale. Advanced Proficient 80-89 Passing (With high passing [3b] being and low passing [3a] 70-75) Basic – ( 2b – and 2a – 60-65) Minimal (59 and below equates to a 1b on the higher side and 1a on the lower side) This test has a computerized reading comprehension/application part and a handwritten writing component (expository, argumentative, or narrative)

MAP is administered three times a year – fall, winter, and spring - and our emphasis is GROWTH! The test has two computerized components – Reading and Language. The reading passages are typically shorter than Case 21. The grading scale changes depending on the time of year, but to attain proficiency by the end of the year, your child must score 221 or above. Spring Goals: Advanced 229 or above Proficient Below Proficiency – 220 and below

Your child’s score from last spring is on the data sheet. Again, our goal here is GROWTH! There is a computerized reading section and a handwritten writing section. (Two prompts - expository, argumentative, and/or narrative) The grading scale is based on normed data and is as follows: 1a Low Minimal 4 Proficient 1b High Minimal 5 Advanced 2a Low Basic 2b High Basic 3a Low Passing 3b High Passing

What can you do? Put these testing dates on your calendar and make sure that your child is well fed, rested, and confident. Read with your student and discuss what you have read. Ask your student to respond to his or her reading through writing a summary, a reflection, or a connection. Ask him or her to support what you have written with text evidence.
