Blended Language Learning
Synchronous & Asynchronous Learning Synchronous learning takes place in real time/ at the same time, but not in the same place. Asynchronous learning occurs not only in different locations, but also at different times The OGC incorporates Information & Communication Technology into a well-structured, user-friendly and effective language learning program. It combines synchronous and asynchronous learning, which we call Blended Learning. Synchronous learning takes place in real time/ at the same time, but not in the same place, e.g. chat & web conferencing. Asynchronous learning occurs not only in different locations, but also at different times

Three Modules Integrated Learning Content Tutoring sessions
Learning Management System Integrated Learning Content Consists of a. The Moodle Learning Management System (LMS), which is supported by the e-learning Department AUTh. The Moodle platform hosts the course and provides all the necessary tools for running it. b. The second module is the learning content, which consists of videos, audios, texts & quizzes. All these are integrated into interactive learning objects and are available for asynchronous learning on the Moodle platform. c. Web-conferencing twice a week, i.e. Tutoring sessions with the participation of a teacher and a small group of students, for synchronous learning.

Moodle Scoring report User tracking Announcement forum Quick mail Students’ forum Task assignments The Moodle LMS provides an e-learning environment and the tools both for learning and for course management. Course management tools are the announcement forum, quick mail, the scoring report and user tracking. User tracking informs the instructor on students’ activity, when and for how long he/she last accessed the platform. The scoring report shows the scores of each student for each unit but also individual and class average scores. Learning tools are the students’ forum and task assignments, which allow for collaborative and creative learning. The students forum serves the communication between students about experiences or problems during their stay but is mainly exploited as a learning tool. Games, challenges and contests aiming at improving the productive and receptive skills are organized via the students’ forum.

The multimedia learning content was created with the Adobe Captivate software, which is widely used for the creation of e-learning courses. Learning Content communicative contexts that the Erasmus students will be exposed to e.g. introducing oneself, greeting, buying smth. at the kiosk or the cafeteria, etc. each unit provides assessment the student can see his/her score at the end of each unit and review the quizzes, where he/she had wrong answers. The units cover the communicative contexts that the Erasmus students will be exposed to during their stay in Thessaloniki, e.g. introducing oneself, greeting, buying smth. at the kiosk or the cafeteria, etc. A further very useful course feature is that each unit provides assessment. The student can see his/her score at the end of each unit and review the quizzes, where he/she had wrong answers. In addition, the students take a progress test and a final test during the course. All these scores are reported in the Moodle platform and are available to the students and the teachers.
