Background 2006 - New strategy for a National
Infrastructure for geodata in Sweden Land Registration development program 2006, the Swedish Government commissioned Geodata Advisory Board to prepare a strategy for the development of a national infrastructure for geodata in Sweden. Since then, work has been carried out in close collaboration with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and a range of other relevant organisations. Land Registration development program aimed at streamlining the process for real estate, through new IT solutions for the processing and storage of information. New systems for property registration An ageing and outdated mainframe platform was phased out and replaced by a modern technical solution. Sweden ranked 11th globally in the Registering property part of the Doing business survey

Registering Property – reliability of infrastructure
Titles and deeds are kept in a computerized format Electronic databases for: Mortgages: the register contains 12,5 million mortgages Boundaries and cadastral information: 3,5 million land plots The same identification number for properties in all registers: - immovable property, - cadastral and - mapping Since 1992 there is an electronic database for checking for encumbrances – mortgages is in the register 91% are in digital form and 9% in paper form.
