13 How A-levels have changed
Princethorpe college Sixth Form How A-levels have changed A-levels are now fully linear AS and A-levels have been separated A-levels have increased in content and AS-levels have become a down- graded stand-alone qualification Princethorpe College students study three A-levels Universities and employers do not favour additional AS levels but they do look for evidence of other skills and characteristics

Princethorpe college Sixth Form Choosing your subjects Choose your three subjects carefully Base your choices on: Your enjoyment of and interest in particular areas (enjoyment = motivation = success) Your GCSE performance in any relevant courses (note GCSE requirements for some A-levels) Your future education and career plans (a few degrees require specific A-levels) Research into the content of the courses this evening For newcomers to Princethorpe: Sixth Form Taster Days are available on Tuesday 12 December and Tuesday 16 January

15 Our admissions requirements
Princethorpe college Sixth Form Our admissions requirements Minimum academic requirement is six GCSEs grades A* – C (9 – 5), including at least three B (6) grades or equivalent. Candidates will normally have at least grade B (6) in subjects to be studied to A-level, but it is necessary to have at least a grade A (7) in: Mathematics Latin Modern Foreign Languages Sciences Check each subject for specific requirements

Princethorpe college Sixth Form The application process Internal students A structured plan of support is in place – your tutors will be working with you and your parents over the rest of this year to guide and encourage you External students: Informal interview with the Head of Sixth Form Sixth Form Taster Days - Tuesday 13 December and Tuesday 16 January References taken from your school/college Deadline for applications and Scholarship applications Friday 16 February Option Choices Survey Form – would everyone please return this by Thursday 18 January See the A-level decision process in the SF Info Booklet. Informal interview can take place before or after application. Reference request follows application.
