Five Design Principles
Repetition Contrast Proximity Unity Balance

The Design principles of contrast is by using type, textures, and elements like lines, boxes, or graphics, that are very different from one another. The picture is a good example of contrast because the lemon shows a different type of texture and color from the setting it is in. Other examples of good contrast are… Contrast Back to Menu Ex. 1 Ex. 2 Ex. 3

Proximity Back to Menu Ex. 1 Ex. 2 Ex. 3
The Design principles of proximity tells you to put related items close together physically. Things that aren't related should be farther apart. The amount of separation between items or groups tells your reader how the material is organized. The picture is a good example of proximity because related items are close together and the amount of separation tells use how the items are organized. Other examples of good proximity are… Proximity Back to Menu Ex. 1 Ex. 2 Ex. 3

Repetition Back to Menu Ex. 1 Ex. 2 Ex. 3
The Design principles of repetition is consistency. Repetition acts as a visual key that ties your piece together. It controls the reader’s eye and helps you keep their attention on the piece as long as possible. The picture is a good example of repetition because the graphic element is repeated though the size changes. Other examples of good repetition are… Back to Menu Ex. 1 Ex. 2 Ex. 3

The Design principles of balance provides stability and structure to a design. Symmetrical balance is achieved when the weight of the elements on both halves of the design is even, given a centre line. Asymmetrical balance is achieved by the use of contrast. The picture is a good example of balance because the main focus is on the rocks which is why the background is blurry which makes it asymmetrical because of the difference in the contrast. Other examples of good balance are… Balance Back to Menu Ex. 1 Ex. 2 Ex. 3

Unity The Design principles of unity is the relationship among the elements of a visual that helps all the elements function together. Unity gives a sense of oneness to a visual image. The picture is a good example of unity because all of the elements function together to create a visual image a plus sign. Other examples of good unity are… Back to Menu Ex. 1 Ex. 2 Ex. 3

Contrast This is a good example of contrast because the yellow flower are the primary focus based on the difference of colors and images. Ex. 2 Back to Menu
9
Contrast This is a good example of contrast because the empty scenario draws the attention to the couple. Ex. 3 Back to Menu
10
Contrast This is a good example of contrast because of the difference of the colors which draws the attention to the person jumping from one area to the next. Back to Menu
11
Proximity Back to Menu This is a good example of proximity because it allows the audience to see what the logo would be with and without the relates items together. Ex. 2
12
Proximity This is a good example of proximity because it uses related and unrelated items to create a organized product. Ex. 3 Back to Menu
13
Proximity Back to Menu This is a good example of proximity because it shows the audience the difference in correctly placed related items verses them being apart.
14
Repetition This is a good example of repetition because it repeats some aspect of design though out the picture. Ex. 2 Back to Menu
15
Repetition This is a good example of repetition because “The Big Sale” acts as a visual key that catches the reader’s eye. Ex. 3 Back to Menu
16
Repetition This is a good example of repetition because the repeated items really helps keep the attention on the key product. Back to Menu
17
Balance This is a good example of balance because the dog was create base on symmetrical balance. What is done on one side is done to the other. Ex. 2 Back to Menu
18
Balance This is a good example of balance because the picture creates a visual which makes that items look larger than they really are. The farther they become the smaller the candy gets. Ex. 3 Back to Menu
19
Balance This is a good example of balance because it is symmetrical. The color and the shapes create a mirror image however it is actually rotated. Back to Menu
20
Unity This is a good example of unity because several butterflies work together to make one large butterfly. Ex. 2 Back to Menu
21
Unity This is a good example of unity because the repetition helps to create one whole design. Ex. 3 Back to Menu
22
Unity This is a good example of unity because on shape is used multiple times in a unified way to create one design. Back to Menu
