Signs of this changing youth trend can be found in all major juvenile crime indicators.
Violent crime, property crime, and weapons violations by today’s youth are all at record lows.

The average for public schools on NAEP was significantly higher than the average for private schools for grade 4 mathematics when adjusted for student characteristics
Unadjusted scores were higher for private schools

12. Schools Are Safer Than Ever for Children
Incidences of school crime have decreased over the past decade. Between 1992 and 2001, the rate of non-fatal violent crimes and assault against students dropped from 48 per 1000 students to 28 per Homicides on school premises also dropped from 34 in 1992 to 14 in 2001.

13. Student Body More Diverse Than Ever

More than one-third of public school students are from low-income families.
One in ten public school students is an English language learner
English language learners are the fastest-growing population in U.S. public schools
