ICDs IOR v0_5 on SOC public
Main additions to v0_2 distributed Oct 2014 VSTP instrument-commanding (limited commanding after STP) Filenaming (inspired by MADAWG approach) XML schema Does not yet include MOC BFS/NCS FDIR improvement proposal SC door operations (TBC if under IOR control or not) Minor elements might still change (exact enumeration names, Schema restrictions, ongoing discussions with MOC about the CRF interface on which the IOR is based), but I don’t expect anything fundamental to change now. Few comments received on v0_2 I accept it is easier to review planning ICDs together Instrument model discussion is potentially linked to “profile” usage in the IORs.

ICDs E-FECS E-FECS = “Enhanced Flight Events and Communications Skeleton” AKA “Planning Skeleton” v0_2 on SOC-Public Defines different types of window that the instrument teams will have to plan around. Many(!) different types of window Maybe this is not surprising for Solar Orbiter (10 instruments, simultaneous observation, shared platform) Examples: Planned Thruster firing => make your instrument safe (if necc.) Roll => Don’t integrate images over this period LTP establishes “coordination” -> E-FECS built by according to LTP -> Instruments plan MTP/STP according to E-FECS One E-FECS for all instruments, unlike TM-corridors E-FECS spans six-month planning period. Nominally no update between MTP and STP Based on the MOC produced “FECS” but with added scientific coordination

Selected items from E-FECS
EMC-quiet as described yesterday Mandatory quiet windows Preferred noisy windows Attitude Disturbance windows Windows when pointing performance is not guaranteed In principle this information is knowable from other elements (e.g. Rolls, thruster firing etc.) but we will do this for you RS-Extended windows Precursor periods etc. made explicit

Pointing Enumeration Identifies classes of pointing Timing is explicit
Detailed pointing is not explicit Enumeration Disk centre Pole North South Limb <opt> Solar lat bounding min value <opt> Solar lat bounding max value <opt> East/West Feature tracking METIS compatibility (YES/NO) <opt> Active feature (e.g. Active region, sun spot, base of prominance) <opt> Quiet feature (e.g. coronal hole/boundary) Single element with a "pointing pattern" EUI-PHI flat-field calibration METIS off-point matrix calibration SOLO-HI off-point matrix calibration Mosaic Also identifies “Prime Boresight” I.e. who shall be pointed towards the chosen target (according to static alignment provided in advance by instrument team) Example: may be important for METIS wrt disk centre pointings
