Apocrine: Armpit Sweat Glands Located in reticular layer of dermis Contain sweat gland duct Sebaceous Glands Oily, waxy secretion of sebum onto hair follicle and hair itself Stimulated by hormones around puberty Lubricates skin and hair from becoming dry, brittle, cracked Merocrine Most numerous Secretes sweat directly on skin’s surface Apocrine Release secretions into hair follicles in the axillary, pubic, and anal regions Secretion is viscous and cloudy and has a distinct noticeable odor (begins around puberty)
