After looking at the cost comparison, statistics on pet life, and breed implications, it is clear that adopting a pet from the local shelter is better than buying a designer dog from a breeder. When dogs are bread specifically their health is put at risk, whereas a dog from the shelter does not have these health risks. Also, buying a dog from a breeder, pet store, or online can be cost several thousand dollars, unlike a shelter dog which costs significantly less. Finally, each year approximately 3.9 million dogs are put to sleep in shelters. Adopting dogs not only gives a human a faithful and loving companion, but saves a life.
