3 What is the Local Plan? Borough Local Plan 2005 Being replaced by….:
The Core Strategy (2014) = ‘Part 1’ of the new LP: 460 new homes per year Main focus on development in existing towns and villages, esp Redhill Need for urban extensions to some communities to meet longer term needs for housing The Development Management Plan = ‘Part 2’

4 What is the DMP? Part 2 of the new Local Plan. Will include:
Policies to guide decision making on planning applications Policy designations, where a particular policy approach will be applied Site allocations, for particular types/scales of development Will be guided by Core Strategy and national policy requirements

5 The Regulation 18 consultation
Not the final plan An opportunity to influence what goes in the final plan for example: What planning topics should it cover Which parts of the borough should be protected Your views on potential development sites that have been identified Note that: The amount of housing and general principles about where development will be located have already been set by the Core Strategy No final decisions have yet been made on development sites

Proposed policy approaches, including Employment land Town and local centres Design, including back garden land and RASCs Open space Access and parking Flood Risk Green Belt Landscape, biodiversity and heritage Cemeteries and crematoria

Proposed designations Town centre and local centre boundaries Principal and local employment areas Residential areas of special character Urban open space Green Belt anomalies (eg drafting errors) Status of Netherne/Bablyon Lane

8 What is being consulted on? (3)
Urban development sites Town centre sites Larger sites in the rest of the urban area where potential for change of use has been identified

Potential development beyond the current urban area Urban extension sites in the CS areas of search: Around Horley East of Redhill East of Merstham South West of Reigate Traveller provision: Broad types of supply (not sites at this stage) Strategic employment site: South of Horley
