2. Persuasive Writing Is there something you have strong feelings about?
Do you want others around you to feel the same way?
You can use a Persuasive Essay as a method of convincing people to believe the same way you do.

3. Think-pair-share
What are some situations you have experienced where you had to convince someone to agree with you?
What worked well when you did this?
What kind of words did you use?
Did you just want them to think like you, or also to take some kind of action you wanted?

4. Building Blocks A successful persuasive essay should:
Clearly state the issue AND your position on it
Use language appropriate to the audience you are trying to convince
Support your position with facts, statistics, and reasons
Answer possible objections to your position
Show clear reasoning
Conclude with a summary and a call to action.
