2. Security and Shelter
This is a picture of a retreat area in the classroom. It provides the student with a safe place to go.

3. Social Contact
Mrs. Hartman has her class in a cluster. There is one desk by itself to benefit the student that sits in it.

4. Symbolic Identification
“My Super Heroes” shows who is in Mrs. Hartman’s classroom. What their ethnicity, gender, and ages are.

5. Task Instrumentality
The doorway picture shows where the students are to line up.
The other picture shows where their work is kept and each cubby belongs to a different child. On top of the shelf is where they turn in their work.

6. The easel picture shows a personalized chair made by her previous students.
The other picture shows fun curtains to hide what’s underneath instead of cabinet doors.

7. Growth
This picture shows the different reading boxes that belong to the students. Each box has the student‘s number on them and the books are on their reading level.
This picture shows different devices the children can use to help them learn. They are organized so the student knows what to grab.
