Searching Searching for a Customer To access the Search Screens:
From the main customer screen, click on the Advanced Search Icon at the top of your screen This brings you to the Search Screens

Searching BEACON has multiple searches that can be used. Each tab gives different search criteria Understanding each individual search tab will help maximize the search results

Advanced Search The Advanced Search tab is used to search for customers in the database. Enter as little or as much information as you want to narrow the search. Once the information is filled in, click on the Run search icon , or just hit ENTER. Some searches allow to look for both active and expired codes. Each specific search tab will be discussed in more detail.

Include Expired Companies
Some of the individual searches allow include expired companies in the search results. Select the check box to show all active and expired customers. If this box is unchecked only the active companies will be displayed.

% = Wild Card Using a wildcard (%) in the middle of a word will help to avoid missing information in the search results Wild Card is always included at the end of a word Example: South Shore could be entered as South Shore, or Southshore Enter south% shore

Customer & WIN ID Customer: This search allows the Company as well as the Individual to be entered and go directly to the customer screen. WIN ID: This search allows the WIN ID to be entered and go directly to the customer screen. If Exact Match is unchecked a partial WIN ID can be entered

Waste Oil & My Search Waste Oil: This search will only return the accounts owned by Murphy’s Oil Division My Search: This search is set up for account owners only. When this search is used it automatically assumes the Account Owner as one of the search criteria

CH Search & Individuals
CH Search: This search will return active customers only Individuals: This search provides the WIN ID Code(s) associated with a contact .

Expired Cos. & Epa ID Expired Cos: This search will return only expired companies Epa ID: This search allows an account to be displayed based on the EPA ID # (US accounts) The wild card % can be used on these searches if Exact Match is unchecked

GENREG & SK GENREG: This search allows an account to be displayed based on the GENREG # (Canada accounts) SK: This search uses legacy SK account numbers to locate the corresponding account in Beacon

Broker & Incident Broker: This search will return only brok/cust/gen or brok/gen accounts Incident: This search allows for individual pipeline, call note or collections activities

Lost / Prospects Lost/Prospects: This search displays company records that have been expired with a “LOST” customer cycle This search can be used for prospecting potential customers

QUICK! Search One of the simplest searches in Beacon is the QUICK! Search located on the top right menu bar You can choose any of the available criteria to search with.
