Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. Eph 5:25-27
2
A passage that describes the universal church.
A passage that also provides each local church of Christ a “pattern” to imitate. Each local church should ask herself… “Are we pleasing as a bride of Christ?”
3
What Jesus Did For The Church
He loved her He gave Himself for her He sanctified her He cleansed her with the washing of water by the word He desires to present her to Himself
4
What The Church Should Do For Jesus
She should be “glorious” (illustrious, honorable, esteemed) She should have “no spot or wrinkle” (anything that detracts from her beauty or mars her appearance as a bride)
5
What The Church Should Do For Jesus
She should be “holy” (sacred, prepared to serve God in an esteemed capacity) She should be “without blemish” (free from anything for which she can be blamed for wrongdoing)

Each local church can be such a “bride for Christ” to the extent her individual members keep themselves from the world & sin.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

We want to help each member to become mature in Christ.
Eastside desires to be the bride her Husband glories in & is glad to call His own. We want to help each member to become mature in Christ. The worship we’re about to offer God will honor Him as well as reflect our attempts to live as His bride each day.
