TRANSPIRATION Process by which water is lost by plants
Water passes out through stomata (openings in leaf through which gases enter and leave) Plant loses about 99% of water that enters (only 1% used in photosynthesis) Results of transpiration Leaves are cooled Can increase humidity Creates upward motion of water from roots through stem to leaves out stomata
