8 Provincial Grant Freeze for Cost shared public health programs
Grant freeze impacts in : The loss of over 11 FTEs in staffing positions, including three management positions The reorganization of the agency with a reduction of one department The closure of the sexual health clinic in Alliston Slimmed agency strategic plan $90,000 in operational savings achieved

9 2016 budget and provincial Public Health Grants
2016 board approved budget based on a 2% increase in the provincial grant and a 2% increase on the 2015 levy. Provincial grant for the cost-shared and other 100 % provincially received in September Funding for the majority of cost-shared and 100% funded public health programs remained frozen at the 2014 level. New shift from municipal / provincial cost shared funding to 100% provincial funding for Healthy Smiles Ontario program, one-time funding and capital funding 2016 funding share Provincial share - $29,557,335 Municipal share - $7,695,490 Board of Health presently reviewing potential service impacts for the budget – to be approved by February

12 Final Thoughts The provincial approach to funding support for public health is in transition. The Board of Health is assessing this regarding the 2017 budget. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is committed to working with our communities for excellence in public health.
