2. Some safety reminders:
You are the primary key player in safety matters, your supervisor is your 1st contact – don’t hesitate to ask! Emergency Phone 74444!
Barriers and warnings are there for your safety – respect them!
Respect the 2-person rule – but the 2nd person must be „close by“ to make sense!
If someone got hurt of suffers a malaise: Call 74444!
In case of an evacuation alarm: Evacuate! (exercise or not)
Everyone should go through the online training „Electrical Safety Awareness“, see This is necessary condition to access a machine!
Please make sure your „habilitation électrique“ is valid if you work in the vicinity of electrical installations or on electrical installations! I sign the habilitation électrique for members of personnel, the contractor for the FSU staff.
MPE (Staff & Fellows): Please fill the „Identification of occupational hazards“ form For MPA (students, associates, …) this is not yet implemented, they can fill the paper version
Open your eyes! If you note something that might be dangerous, act!

A big THANK YOU to all of you – for a very successful year! This includes Staff, Fellows, Students, Associates and the Colleagues working for SERCO/INEO GDF SUEZ and Cegelec/Intertec on site for us (FSUs)!
A particular THANK YOU for the many of you helping with the CERN Open Days! This was a big success and a Great Experience!
Entering or leaving CERN premises – please follow the instructions by the guard!
If you fill the EDH Absence request for an Official Trip, please add a short word of explanation under „Phone/location during absence and other comments:” !
If you are inscribed to a Training, you must attend it!
Don’t forget that your French & Swiss Legitimation Cards expire! Please don’t ignore this – it can become VERY complicated if you’re late!
If sick – please let Laurie know as soon as possible …
Attendance to large International Conferences (IPAC & LINAC) is coordinated department-wide – the process starts early. If you have to attend, let your SL know early – for IPAC (June 2014) this was decided last October! DOCT & TECH: apply for Student Grants
